What moves the price
- Getting at it. A bungalow is a short ladder. Three storeys, a parapet, a conservatory or a glass roof underneath means a tower or a cherry picker, priced on top.
- How many faults. One visit for three joints costs less than three visits. Get them all looked at together.
- Matching. An old ogee or a discontinued colour can mean replacing a longer length so it matches.
- What's behind it. If the fascia is soft, brackets won't hold until the board is fixed.
- Cast iron. Heavy, often high, and cleaned back before it's sealed, so it costs more a joint.
When a repair isn't worth it
